To a casual cinema goer The Rum Diary is constantly being in a phase of drunkenness, getting high on drugs and dropping liquid in your eyes. However this is no Hangover but something much better there is a lot of depth and pain associated with the Rum Diary its about a writer struggling to find his voice, his place and his writing style. He is also haunted by his incompetency to actually write a publish worthy book. There is a constant struggle between what he is and what he wants to be. This film is a masterpiece and though is not as funny and entertaining as Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas it is more spirited. Its good to see Johnny Depp find form and he delivers after a long time, all his films in past 5 years have been garbage (all Pirates, Alice, Tourist etc.). However this film is far from perfect it has a haphazard story and the genuine message is often distracted by comical acts. Its refreshing to watch a film like this, a flawed, imperfect human of a film in the horde of mechanical and machine like movies being churned out on a daily basis.

Watching The Social Network for the fifth time
This movie is so good! watching this on television takes me back to the first time I saw this. It was October, 2010, I was so blown away I instantly put it up there with my favorite movie of 2010, Inception. Aaron Sorkin and David Fincher really outdid themselves with this one.
One of the best things about this movie is that it is always aggressive, it doesn't play nice. It challenges you and demands that you keep up. Normally the sequences of the past are distinctly seperated but in here they are mixed so you gotta be alert. However its so well done that you would get it unless you have an IQ of a moron, if that's the case stick to a retarded Salman Khan movie.
What do you folks think about this gem of a movie? Let me know!
